Writing about curators and art spaces in Berlin

The job offers for a color and imaging scientist in Berlin are thin on the ground these days, but side projects are not missing. Taking for excuse the new art festival Project Space Festival Berlin, festival having one event per day and each day a new place.

I joined since the beginning of August two friends to write daily a portrait of the different curators and/or leaders or co-leader of this event. Posts can be read here Ein Monat 31 Portraits and there Site Specific Ideas. These portraits, faces of the city Berlin is a project initiated by Natalia Irina Roman.

Moment Lynchien

Assuming you are familiar with the work of David Lynch, I need to share my experience during the eighth day of the Project Space Festival Berlin. Event that day organised by the Kleine Humboldt Gallery and taking place in the Agricultural Institute of Humboldt University building nearby the Naturkunde Museum.

In one hour only, the guided tour did make us travel in space, in time and in imagination. A feeling of getting successively into boxes bigger than the previous one. Walking into abandoned class room, dust on the furnitures, stained glassed to replace the window, video installation where you need to seat as you were following a lecture, old map of the subway Berlin on the wall left over from the previous inhabitants of the space, never knowing if you are watching or being part of an art installation and if a ghost will come and say hello.

Pretty hypnotic.

Project Space Festival Berlin

Almost a month away from Berlin at the beginning of the summer, now back in town for a week, but the journey did not stop.

I joined two friends (Natalia and Yamina also spotters from the city blog SpottedByLocals Berlin and Brussels) in another blog project Ein Monat 31 Portraits to talk about a festival, the Project Space Festival Berlin.

It is the first edition of this festival, originality is the following: one event each day in a new location each day all along August. Yesterday was the sixth day and the program brought us to Kreuzberg at the Kinderhook and Caracas art gallery.
